Sanofi raises its 2026 outlook as Dupixent drives growth
Third-quarter sales rose at a double-digit pace and the group lifted its guidance for the second time this year. The longer test is how it builds a pipeline beyond its leading medicine.

Sanofi raised its full-year outlook on 30 October after reporting third-quarter sales of 14.44 billion euros, up 14.3 percent at constant exchange rates. The French pharmaceutical group now expects 2026 sales to grow by a low-teens percentage and business earnings per share by a mid-teens percentage, both excluding currency effects.
Dupixent remained the central engine. Sales of the immunology medicine rose 34.8 percent to 5.7 billion euros, passing 5 billion euros for a second consecutive quarter. Recently launched medicines generated 1.4 billion euros, up 31.4 percent, while vaccine sales fell 6.6 percent to 3.2 billion euros because of what Sanofi described as timing in respiratory prevention.
A quarter led by one blockbuster
Business operating income reached 5.43 billion euros. Reuters said that was well above the 4.32 billion euro analyst consensus supplied by the company. IFRS net income was 3.02 billion euros, while free cash flow reached 3.27 billion euros. These metrics use different accounting definitions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
The guidance upgrade is the second this year, but the strategic question stretches beyond 2026. Reuters and The Wall Street Journal both highlighted management's interest in acquisitions as Sanofi prepares for the eventual loss of exclusivity on Dupixent. Chief financial officer François Roger said the company could consider deals larger than its historical 2 billion to 5 billion euro range.
Acquisitions are an intention, not an outcome
Management said it is looking at late-stage or already commercial assets, including in rare diseases, vaccines and immunology. That is a statement of interest, not a completed transaction. Any deal would still need a target, agreed price, financing and regulatory review, while clinical assets retain development risk.
The quarter also shows why pipeline diversification matters. One product supplied almost two-fifths of quarterly group sales, even as new launches grew quickly. Strong concentration can support margins while demand is rising, but it also increases the importance of patent timing, competition and the success of replacement products.
The post-Dupixent test
Investors now have two separate tests. The near-term one is whether sales and earnings reach the upgraded guidance through the end of December. The longer one is whether research spending, launches and any acquisitions create enough durable revenue to reduce dependence on Dupixent before the next decade.
