Orange's stronger outlook is being powered outside France
The telecom group has raised its 2026 core profit growth target above 4.5%. Africa, the Middle East, Poland and Spain are doing the heavy lifting while French revenue barely moves.

Orange raised its 2026 target for growth in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation after leases to more than 4.5%, up from more than 4%. The revision followed third-quarter figures showing that the French telecom group is getting most of its momentum from markets outside France.
Reuters reported comparable group revenue of €12.19 billion for the quarter, up 3.6%. Core profit rose 4.6% to €4.14 billion, slightly above the company-supplied consensus, while operating cash flow increased 8.8% over the first nine months. Those figures support the higher target, but the geographic mix is the more revealing part of the update.
International growth changes the group balance
Revenue grew 14.2% in Africa and the Middle East and 7.9% in Poland, compared with 0.5% in France. That gap means the group is relying on faster-growing international businesses to offset a mature home market, fund shareholder returns and preserve room for investment.
Spain is now a larger part of that calculation. Orange España, renamed after the full consolidation of the former MasOrange business, recorded third-quarter revenue of €1.91 billion, up 3.5%. Cinco Días reported nine-month revenue of €5.67 billion and continued progress toward more than €430 million in integration savings for 2026.
The cybersecurity unit added another source of growth. Reuters said Orange Cyberdefense reached €1 billion in revenue over nine months, up 12.2%, while selling its threat-detection platform across nine European countries. That business is smaller than consumer telecoms, but its pace and recurring corporate demand strengthen the diversification case.
Cash generation matters for the next deal
Cash conversion is particularly important because Orange is also preparing for a planned takeover of SFR. A large transaction would increase the importance of financing discipline and regulatory review. Today's result does not decide either question, but stronger cash flow and a higher profit target improve the starting position.
Orange's investor materials show that the group is also tracking emissions and network energy use alongside financial results. That does not remove the commercial contrast exposed by this quarter: France remains the brand's home and a huge market, yet the growth engine is increasingly international. The next test is whether those businesses can keep expanding without the group becoming dependent on one region or on acquisition-led scale.
