French Tech 2030 selects 80 firms, but scale is the real test

The third deep-tech cohort spans eight strategic sectors and reports 842 patents. The programme offers access and support, while factories, contracts and revenue will show what the label delivers.

France's third French Tech 2030 cohort brings together 80 start-ups and scale-ups across artificial intelligence, space, electronics, energy and decarbonisation, robotics, quantum, health and cybersecurity. The official programme page says the companies have raised a combined €1.5 billion since their creation and filed 842 patents.

The list combines continuity with new entrants. Independent business publication Entreprisma counted 33 new companies, 44 returning from the previous cohort and three returning from the first selection. That composition matters because the announcement is not a list of 80 newly created projects or a single new investment round.

Selection is not the same as new funding

French Tech 2030 is an accompaniment programme. The Mission French Tech says each company receives one year of tailored support on financing, commercial development, international growth, recruitment, intellectual property, regulation and access to public and private buyers. A dedicated programme manager can help navigate a network of public agencies.

Business France lists 13 space companies, 11 in artificial intelligence, 11 in electronics, 11 in health, 10 each in energy and cybersecurity, eight in robotics and six in quantum. The grouping is a policy signal about the capabilities the state wants to retain or build in France, not a ranking of the companies' commercial strength.

Industrial claims need milestones

The industrial headline is 46 factories existing or planned. Entreprisma separates that into 23 operating sites and 23 projects, a useful distinction because a planned factory still depends on financing, permits, equipment, customers and execution. The same caution applies to the €1.5 billion raised, which is cumulative, not an award distributed with selection.

The programme's value will be visible in later milestones: working deployments, contracts, production capacity, exports and durable employment. The official figures also cite more than €211 million invested in research and development, €175 million in combined 2025 revenue and 4,000 direct jobs in France and abroad. Those numbers provide a baseline for future comparison.

Source note: the Economy Ministry and Mission French Tech supplied the official selection, eligibility rules and programme offer. Business France supplied an English-language sector list. Entreprisma was used for independent analysis separating new entrants, returning firms, operating factories and planned sites.
